New HACS Software

A new version of the HACS software has been developed for use with MS Office 2010 and Windows7.

New Site Form Software

A version of the site form database compatible with MS Access 2007/2010 has been uploaded. We have also replaced the old pdf site form with a new one that can be filled in.

Kelli Tjeerdsma, new Accounting Assistant

Bess Brown retired as our Accounting Assistant in July. She has been replaced by Kelli Tjeerdsma.

Sarah Laundry joins staff

Sarah Laundry has joined the Center's staff as Senior Archaeologist. She has a BA degree from SUNY Buffalo and is completing her Master's from the University of Colorado.

Terri Bruce, new GIS Coordinator

Terri Bruce has moved into the position of GIS Coordinator following Terri Holts' accepting a position with Black Hills Power.

Fort Pierre Chouteau report is available

Our report on the 1997–2001 excavations at historic Fort Pierre Chouteau is now available as Research Report No. 3, in two volumes. We plan to have hardcopy volumes available for sale. We will post the details when we receive the printed copies.

Katie Lamie joins staff

Katie Lamie has joined the staff as our new Repository Manager, effective June 9, 2010. Katie is a graduate of USD and has a master's degree in anthropology from the University of Nebraska. Most recently, she worked as a crew chief on our Title VI project—a large-scale survey of lands along the Missouri River for the SD Dept. of Game, Fish & Parks.

A slightly revised version of Requirements for Submitting a Collection to the Archaeological Research Center is available for download.

HACS Software

Version 2.03 of the HACS artifact cataloging software is now available. It works in MS Access 2007 and Vista.
