Garry is the State Historic Preservation Officer and director of the Historic Preservation Department (SHPO). Liason to the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission and the Tribal Historic Preservation Offices (THPOs).

For the Northern Region (see map above) works with State and National Registers of Historic Places, certified local governments, Deadwood Grant assistance, historical markers, and other historic preservation matters in the region. Is also acting as a Review and Compliance Archaeologist under Section 106 of NHPA (federal) for archaeology for the following agencies; USFWS, USACE, WAPA, BHNF, BOR, BIA, CGNF, DPG, NNFG, NPS, VA, PUC, BLM, FEMA, FERC and EDA. Katie is also the current Treasurer of the Oahe Chapel Preservation Society.

For the West-Central Region (see map above) works with State and National Registers of Historic Places, certified local governments, Deadwood Fund Grant assistance, historical markers, and other historic preservation matters in the region. Duncan is also the reviewer and point of contact for the Federal Tax Incentive program and is the current Vice President of the Oahe Chapel Preservation Society.
