New Rates
Effective September 8, 2020, we will be increasing our fees for services as dictated by SD Administrative Rules 24:52:05:02. Fees are outlined below:
Curation fees:
8"x10"x3" box, $50
12"x6"x5" box, $75
12"x18"x5" box, $225
12"x15"x10" box, $375
Processing fee: $75 minimum; each additional hour after the first hour, $60
Collections maintenance: $3.50 per cubic foot per year
Curation agreements: $250 per individual per year
Loan processing: $75 minimum, $60 for each additional hour after the first hour
Permits for archaeological work on state-owned lands: $250 per project, per calendar year
ARMS database and GIS access:
$1,500 per year for institutional use (up to 5 users), or
$500 per year per individual, or
$40 per hour per workstation for in-house access.
If you have an ARMS account under the institutional or individual payment plans, in-house use of ARMS at the Archaeological Research Center is available at no additional cost.
Record search:
For individuals with an institutional or individual ARMS account, $75 minimum; each additional hour after the first hour, $60
Record searches for institutions or individuals without an ARMS account, $100 minimum; each additional hour after the first hour, $75
Copies of report pdfs are $20 each
Site files:
You may examine a site file in-house and take notes. Copies are not allowed without permission from the State Archaeologist.

Photocopying:
Letter and legal size: B&W exposure - $0.25 each; Color exposure - $0.50 each
11" x 17" size: B&W exposure - $0.50 each; Color exposure - $1.00 each
Mail orders: $5.00 minimum
Scans:
Photos or maps: $15.00 per scan; $10 per scan for South Dakota State Historical Society members, South Dakota state, local, or tribal government agencies, and South Dakota not-for-profit organizations.
Other textual materials: $2.00 per scan
Other staff assistance: $60 an hour for all/any part of an hour
